Chardham is a pilgrimage circuit of four sacred Hindu sites in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. All the dhams are situated on the high altitude areas of the Himalayas. These dhams are Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri.
Kedarnath is known for the temple of Lord Shiva. It is built by the Adi Guru Shankracharya. But in the winter due to heavy snow Lord Shiva migrates from Kedarnath to Ukhimath in Omkareshwar temple.
Badrinath temple is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu and situated on the bank of the River Alaknanda. In the winter, lord Badrinath migrates from Badrinath to Joshimath in Narshing temple. The is constructed by the Adi Guru Shankracharya.
Gangotri temple is dedicated to the Goddess Ganga. The temple is constructed by the Nepalese general Amar Singh Thapa. In the winter due to heavy snowfall goddess Ganga migrates from the Gangotri to Harshil. Mukhba Temple is the winter seat of Goddess Ganga.
Yamunotri temple is dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna. The temple is built by the Nepalese General Amar Singh Thapa. In winter, Goddess Yamuna migrates Kharsahali (Khushimath) village from Yamunotri. Yamuna temple is the winter seat for Goddess Yamuna
Tour Package Itinerary
Day - 1 – Rishikesh – Barkot (6/7 hours / 169 km)
Arrive at Rishikesh, we will drive to the Barkot. It is a long journey. Barkot is a place of great scenic beauty with views of snow-capped mountains all around. Arrive at Barkot check-in the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day - 2 – Barkot – Janki Chatti - Uttarkashi
In the morning after breakfast, we will be travel to Janki chatty, then we will trek to the to Kharsahali(Khushimath) village is the winter place of Yamunotri. After the pooja and aarti, we will back to the Barkot. Lunch will be served in Barkot. Later we will drive to the Uttarkashi. After reaching Uttarkashi, we will visit Vishwanath temple and join evening aarti. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day – 3 – Uttarkashi – Harsil – Uttarkashi (3/ 4 hours / 78 km one way)
In the morning, we will again visit the Vishwanath temple. Pooja will be performed there. Then we will drive to the Harshil. Harsil is known for its beauty of nature with snow-capped mountains peak. Before reaching Mukhawa temple, we will take a dip into Tapt Kund at Parashar Mandir. Then we will trek or drive for the Mukhawa temple. Mukawa temple is the winter seat of Goddess Ganga. After the pooja and darshan, we will back to the Uttarkashi.
Day – 4 – Uttarkashi – Rudraprayag (7/8 hours / 175 km)
Wake early in the morning, checj=kout from your hotel and then we will drive to Rudraprayag via Srinagar. Lunch will be served in the Srinagar. Visit Kamleshwar temple in Srinagar. Later we will drive to Rudraprayag. After reaching the Rudraprayag check-in the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day – 5 - Rudraprayag – Ukhimath – Trijuginarayan – Guptkashi
In the morning check out the hotel and proceed to the Ukhimath. Visit the Omkareshwar Temple, the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. After darshan breakfast will serve at Ukhimath. Later visit the Vishwanath temple. Then we will proceed to Trijuginarayan where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married. After the darshan, we will be back to the Guptkashi. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel.
Day – 6 – Guptkashi – Gopeshwar (4 hours / 83 km)
In the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Sari village with packed lunch. We will trek from Sari village to Deoriytal. The place is known for camping and picnic. Deoriatal a beautiful lake at an altitude of 2438 m surroundings with forest offers a spectacular reflection of the mighty Chaukhamba peaks in the lake water. After Deoriyatal we proceed to Gopeshwar. Then we will visit Gopinath temple and perform pooja there. Dinner and night halt will be in Gopeshwar.
Day – 7 – Gopeshwar – Joshimath (3 hours / 60 km)
In the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Joshimath. Arrive at Joshimath and visit the Narshing temple. Narshing temple is the winter seat of the Lord Badrinath. Then we drive to Auli and take a ride of the cable car on a direct payment basis. Auli is known for its beauty of snow-capped mountains. Later drive back to the hotel. Evening aarti in Narshing temple then overnight stay and dinner will be at the hotel.
Day – 8 – Joshimath – Vishnuprayag – Pipalkoti
In the morning after breakfast, we will drive to the Vishnuprayag where Alaknanda and Dhauliganga River met. Darshan & Puja at Yog Dhyan temple. In winter the idol of Udhav Ji, the representative of lord Badrivishal is worshipped here. After darshan, we will trek to some local villages of that region. Later we will drive to the Pipalkoti. Overnight stay and dinner will be at the hotel.
Day – 9 – Pipalkoti – Rishikesh (8/9 hours / 219 km)
In the morning we will drive back to the Rishikesh via Karnprayag. Lunch will be served to you in GMVN tourist centre. This will be a long journey and full of the scenic view. Arrive at Rishikesh your tour will end.
